Acclaimed Artist Series: Chanticleer

Senior and student discounts subject to availability at the door.

The Chemeketa Community College Music Department is excited to announce our first-ever Acclaimed Artist Series. The purpose of this series is to bring world-class performers to Salem to share their music with our students and the greater Salem community.

Our inaugural series will feature four very special concerts: The internationally-acclaimed vocal ensemble, Calmus, from Germany; an award-winning string quartet from Great Britain, the Escher Quartet; the amazing brass quintet, the Boston Brass; and the unbelievable male chorus, Chanticleer.

See below for dates, ticketing and sponsorship information.

Nov 17 | 7:30 pm

A perfect blend of sound, precision, lightness and wit. These are the hallmarks of Calmus, now one of the most successful vocal groups in Germany. These five Leipzig musicians have won a whole string of international prizes and competitions, taking them throughout Europe as well as to North and South America.

Jan 23 | 7:30pm

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its expressive, nuanced performances that combine unusual textural clarity with a rich, blended sound. The Escher Quartet has made a distinctive impression throughout Europe.

March 4 | 7:30pm

For 31 years, Boston Brass has created a one-of-a-kind musical experience. The ensemble’s lively repartee, touched with humor and personality, attempts to bridge the ocean of classical formality to delight audiences in an evening of great music and fun.

APRIL 16 | 7:30pm

Called “the world’s reigning male chorus” by the New Yorker, the San Francisco based GRAMMY® award-winning ensemble Chanticleer is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for its seamless blend of twelve male voices ranging from soprano to bass.

Chemeketa Community College's Music Program is pleased to be working with the Chemeketa Foundation to help fund program and equipment costs to promote the growth of music education at Chemeketa.

Each concert will begin at 7:30pm and will be held in the auditorium at Chemeketa's beautiful Salem campus. Due to the outstanding reputations of these ensembles, we expect some of these concerts to sell out in advance. We encourage you to consider becoming a season pass holder to guarantee yourself a seat. Season subscribers will also receive priority seating.

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, check back for detailed prices and information, or contact us at 503.365.4616. Tickets for each concert will be available at the door, based on availability. Please check the website for the latest information.

Sponsorships for this concert series will help fund needed amenities, as well as support an assistance fund for students who need help paying for music lessons.
