ROSA FoundationScholarship Recipient
My educational goals are not just for me, but for my mom's younger self who gave up everything for a better life and my father's hard work day and night for me and my six younger siblings. I am proud to be the daughter of immigrant parents. This scholarship is helping me become a first-generation college student.
Child CareScholarship Recipient
As a child, I didn't receive routine dental care. An accident that chipped my teeth left me with insecurity about my smile for years. Once I was able to get my teeth fixed, I was no longer embarrassed to smile. Since then, I've wanted to work on a dental team and help others with their dental health. Completing the Dental Assisting program at Chemeketa will launch me into a career and immensely benefit our household. This scholarship has eased mounting stress over costs and I'm very grateful.
Automotive Technology StudentScholarship Recipient
I always wanted to be a mechanic. After years in various jobs, I got into Chemeketa's Automotive Technology program. With the program being full-time, having homework, and balancing time with my family, finding a job on the side was very difficult. Now that I have this scholarship, my financial worries have significantly diminished, and I can really focus on becoming a great technician without having that distraction.
Baltimore Career & TechnicalScholarship Recipient
Once I finished high school, I didn't think I could afford college. However, I discovered I qualified for financial aid and enrolled at Chemeketa. I am the first person in my family to have the opportunity to attend college. I intend to complete my dual degree in Electronic Engineering Technician and Industrial Electronics. I will strive to do well so one day, I have the opportunity to serve others. I am humbled to receive this scholarship. It will go a long way in helping me achieve my goals at Chemeketa and beyond.
E. Pat SmithScholarship Recipient
I am pursuing Computer-Aided Design or “CAD” through a two-year associate's degree. I have always wanted to have a creative career. There are many artistic opportunities within this trade. I would like to pursue multiple internships over the next two years to gain experience, network with local companies, and get a better understanding of what I enjoy doing with this new skill set. This scholarship opportunity will better my future.
ESOL/ENLScholarship Recipient
I am originally from South Sudan, but when I was six years old, my family became refugees in Egypt, where we lived until 2019. My mother, four brothers, two sisters, and I came to the United States as refugees. My goal is to become a Registered Nurse in a hospital or a clinic. I have significant financial barriers. I am working as much as possible to support myself and help my family - that is why the ESOL/ENL (English as a Second Language/English as a New Language) scholarship is so helpful to me.
